Vice President JD Vance said Monday that significant details still need to be negotiated following the preliminary agreement reached between the United States and Iran, but expressed confidence that Washington remains in a strong position.

Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Vance said the framework agreement extends the U.S.-Iran ceasefire for 60 days and creates a pathway for broader negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program and other unresolved issues. The full text of the agreement has not yet been released.

According to Vance, the deal focuses on two primary objectives: reopening the Strait of Hormuz and securing a long-term commitment that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons.

He added that if Iran complies with the agreement, the country could receive economic incentives, including the easing of sanctions and greater access to global markets. Vance described the development as positive news for American interests and regional stability.
