A federal judge has released a handwritten document described as a “suicide note” allegedly written by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein before his death in a Manhattan jail in 2019.
According to reports, the note was discovered by Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, a convicted murderer and former police officer. The document was unsealed by U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas after a request from The New York Times.

The judge said there was no legal basis to keep the note sealed but did not confirm whether the document was authentic. The report said the court also did not examine the chain of custody surrounding the note.
In the handwritten message, Epstein complained that investigators “found nothing” despite examining him for months. He also repeated phrases previously used in emails to relatives and friends.
According to The Times, the note had never been reviewed by federal investigators and was not included in previously released Epstein-related files from the Justice Department.
