President Donald Trump made a historic visit to Qatar on Wednesday, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to do so. Welcomed by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Trump oversaw the signing of several major agreements, including a record-breaking Boeing deal for 160 widebody aircraft — the largest in the company’s history.
The U.S. and Qatar also signed new defense and military cooperation agreements. “Our relationship is reaching another level,” the emir declared, thanking Trump for the visit.

Trump praised the emir, comparing him to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, calling them both “tall, handsome guys.” He also thanked Qatar for its role in addressing challenges posed by Iran and supporting peace talks regarding Russia and Ukraine.
Separately, Qatar’s central bank governor met with Elon Musk in Doha to discuss global finance and investment.

Admiring the venue, marvelling at the marble structures, Trump concluded: “It’s the real deal, it’s very hard to buy.”
