More than 1.2 million people in Lebanon are expected to face acute hunger due to the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah, according to a UN-backed assessment reported by AFP.
The report, issued jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Programme, and Lebanon’s agriculture ministry, said around 1.24 million people could experience crisis-level food insecurity between April and August 2026.

According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, this marks a sharp increase from pre-war estimates of 874,000 people.
The report said the worsening situation is driven by conflict, displacement, and economic strain, underscoring the growing humanitarian toll of the war.
