Ukraine experienced its deadliest month for civilians since April 2022 as Russian long-range missile attacks intensified, according to a new United Nations report.
According to the report, at least 293 civilians were killed in June, while 1,396 verified civilian deaths were recorded during the first half of 2026, representing a 37 percent increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
The report said the escalation has been linked to intensified Russian strikes as Ukraine faces growing pressure on its air-defense capabilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has continued to urge the United States and European allies to provide additional air-defense systems to help counter the attacks.
The report added that efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict remain at a standstill.
