Three cargo ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump extended a ceasefire with Iran, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations and reports cited by BBC Verify.
UKMTO said the first vessel was fired upon by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard after allegedly ignoring warnings. Iranian outlet Nour News claimed the action followed non-compliance by the ship. The report said two additional vessels were also targeted while transiting the strait.

According to BBC Verify, one ship, the Epaminondas, suffered heavy bridge damage. Another vessel, Euphoria, was stopped after coming under fire. A third ship, MSC Francesca, was reportedly hit near Iranian waters and sustained structural damage.
The incidents came shortly after Trump extended a temporary truce while maintaining a naval blockade. Iranian officials, according to reports, warned the move could trigger further military escalation.
