Tesla reported a stronger-than-expected second quarter, delivering 480,126 vehicles, a 25% increase from a year earlier and well above Wall Street forecasts of about 406,600, reported by CNBC.

The report said Tesla is attempting to recover from consecutive annual sales declines driven by increased competition, the loss of a U.S. federal tax credit and consumer backlash linked to CEO Elon Musk's political positions.

The company has responded by introducing lower-cost vehicle variants and expanding its Full Self-Driving technology into additional European markets.

Tesla also reported deploying 13.5 gigawatt-hours of energy storage products during the quarter, exceeding analyst expectations. The company is scheduled to release its full second-quarter financial results on July 22.
