The Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit opened in Egypt with President Donald Trump delivering the first address.

In his remarks, Trump praised the leaders of Qatar, Turkiye, and Egypt, calling Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi a “fantastic man” and commending their roles in securing the Gaza ceasefire.

Trump described the truce between Israel and Hamas as “working out incredibly well,” adding that the summit would formalize peace efforts through a comprehensive document signed by regional leaders, including el-Sisi, Erdogan, and Sheikh Tamim. “It’s going to hold up,” Trump declared.

The president is expected to remain in Egypt for additional talks aimed at ensuring the ceasefire evolves into a durable peace process.

The agreement marks what observers call the most bipartisan praise Trump has received since returning to the Oval Office in January, as both U.S. and regional audiences view the summit as a hopeful turning point.
