President Donald Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the White House has confirmed.

According to the report, Trump is expected to join FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the post-match ceremony, where the tournament trophy will be presented to the winning team.

The report said FIFA had previously indicated that Trump would participate in the trophy presentation, although the White House did not officially confirm his attendance until Thursday.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the event as the culmination of what she called the most watched, secure, and successful World Cup held in the United States, while sources said Trump will have flexibility over whether to join the winning team's on-field celebrations.

According to the report, Trump's prominent ceremonial role has drawn attention because of FIFA's long-standing commitment to political neutrality.

His appearance also follows his participation in last year's Club World Cup final trophy presentation and comes amid public discussion over his recent comments on Spain and fan speculation surrounding his association with major football events.
