Artificial intelligence is transforming the way America’s spy agencies operate, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said Tuesday.
Speaking at the Amazon Web Services Summit in Washington, Gabbard said AI tools are cutting costs and accelerating document analysis, allowing intelligence officers to focus on higher-priority work.
Gabbard highlighted how AI helped declassify tens of thousands of pages related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, a process previously expected to take years.
“We have been able to do that... far more quickly than what was done previously,” she said.
Gabbard, appointed by President Donald Trump earlier this year, is pushing for broader adoption of private-sector AI tools across the intelligence community. She has also initiated sweeping changes, including firing two senior officers, disbanding DEI programs, and restructuring how the President’s Daily Brief is prepared.
Her reforms aim to streamline intelligence operations and increase transparency.
