President Donald Trump has ordered a new round of military strikes against Iran as his administration seeks to increase pressure on Tehran and revive stalled negotiations, according to CNN analysis.
The latest attacks targeted Iranian military surveillance systems, communications networks and air defense assets, according to US Central Command. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the operation was intended to strengthen Washington’s negotiating position and signal resolve to Iranian leaders.
The renewed offensive came after Trump accused Iran of delaying talks and refusing to make concessions. However, Iranian officials rejected the strategy. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said no lasting agreement could be achieved through threats or military force, the report said.
Analysts cited in the report questioned whether additional strikes would change Tehran’s position. They argued that previous military pressure has often reinforced Iranian resistance rather than produced diplomatic breakthroughs.
The report also noted growing concerns that further escalation could threaten Gulf energy infrastructure, disrupt oil supplies and increase economic pressure worldwide.
While US officials insist they are not seeking a broader war, the latest strikes underscore the fragile state of negotiations and the risks of a widening conflict.
