President Donald Trump will visit China from May 13 to May 15 for a three-day state visit focused on trade, Iran, and broader U.S.-China relations, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.
The trip marks the first visit by a sitting U.S. president to China since Trump’s 2017 visit during his first term. The report said the visit had initially been expected earlier this year but was delayed because of the Iran war.

According to Beijing, Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for formal talks and private discussions. U.S. officials said Trump is expected to push China to use its influence over Iran, particularly because Beijing remains a major buyer of Iranian oil.
Despite ongoing tensions over tariffs, Taiwan, and China’s ties with Iran, Trump has repeatedly described his relationship with Xi as strong. White House officials said the visit is expected to produce trade discussions and potential economic agreements.
The schedule includes a welcome ceremony in Beijing, a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, a visit to the Temple of Heaven, and a state banquet before Trump departs on Friday.
