Jensen Huang joined U.S. President Donald Trump’s trip to China after initially appearing absent from the high-profile business delegation traveling to Beijing.

According to CNBC, Trump personally contacted Huang after reports highlighted the Nvidia CEO’s absence from the summit. Huang then reportedly flew to Alaska to board Air Force One before the president’s meetings with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Trump later confirmed Huang’s presence in a social media post and said one of his key goals would be urging China to open its markets further for American companies.

The visit comes as Nvidia faces tighter U.S. export restrictions on advanced AI chips sold to China. Beijing has meanwhile accelerated efforts to develop domestic semiconductor and artificial intelligence capabilities.

Analysts cited in the report said Huang’s participation signals the importance of technology and export control discussions during the broader U.S.-China negotiations.
