According to the analysis, Russia has suffered about 1.4 million casualties, including soldiers killed, wounded and missing. The study estimates around 450,000 Russian fatalities. Ukraine's losses are estimated at 525,000 to 625,000 casualties, including 125,000 to 150,000 deaths.

The report said Russia's casualty rate has risen sharply in recent months, with researchers estimating that Russia now loses nearly eight soldiers for every Ukrainian casualty.

The study attributes the trend partly to Ukraine's expanding drone capabilities, along with Russia's battlefield tactics, training shortcomings, corruption and low morale.

According to the researchers, the conflict has now likely exceeded the Battle of Stalingrad in overall casualties, underscoring the war's devastating human toll.
