Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has resulted in more than 2 million total casualties, making it one of the deadliest conflicts in modern history, reported by CNN, citing a new study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
The report said Russia's casualty rate has risen sharply in recent months, with researchers estimating that Russia now loses nearly eight soldiers for every Ukrainian casualty.
The study attributes the trend partly to Ukraine's expanding drone capabilities, along with Russia's battlefield tactics, training shortcomings, corruption and low morale.
According to the researchers, the conflict has now likely exceeded the Battle of Stalingrad in overall casualties, underscoring the war's devastating human toll.
