Ukrainian officials said more than 20 sites were damaged, including residential buildings, an ambulance station, a research institute, a hotel and businesses. Rescue teams continued searching for survivors trapped beneath the rubble.

Russia's Defense Ministry said the strikes were retaliation for recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure. However, Ukrainian authorities said civilian neighborhoods suffered the heaviest damage.

The report said Ukraine also carried out overnight strikes on a major Russian oil refinery and other military infrastructure. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow would continue increasing pressure on Kyiv, while Ukrainian officials urged stronger international action against Russia.
