Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that the Pentagon will incorporate annual testosterone deficiency screenings into routine health assessments for active-duty service members aged 30 and older.

According to the report, the screening will become part of the military's existing annual medical evaluations, while personnel under the age of 30 may choose to be tested voluntarily.

The report said the initiative follows congressional interest in declining testosterone levels among men and concerns raised by special operations veterans regarding hormone-related health issues.

Hegseth described the program as voluntary, emphasizing that any recommended testosterone replacement therapy would remain a personal medical decision rather than a requirement.

According to the report, the Pentagon is still finalizing implementation plans across the military branches.

The screening initiative is part of a broader series of personnel and fitness reforms introduced under Hegseth's leadership, including mandatory daily physical training and updated grooming policies.
