American Honda Motor Co. has recalled more than 880,000 vehicles in the United States due to concerns that corrosion in rear suspension components could increase the risk of crashes.
The recall covers 880,514 vehicles, including certain Honda Pilot models from 2016 through 2022, Ridgeline pickup trucks from 2017 through 2023, Passport SUVs from 2019 through 2023, and Acura MDX vehicles from 2014 through 2020.
The affected vehicles were sold primarily in states where road salt and winter weather conditions can accelerate corrosion.
The company estimates that approximately 1% of the recalled vehicles are affected by the defect.
Honda said it has not received reports of injuries, fatalities, or warranty claims linked to the issue.
Dealers will inspect affected vehicles free of charge and, if necessary, install reinforcement components or replace damaged parts.
Honda plans to begin mailing official owner notification letters on July 7, outlining the steps required to complete the repair process.
