Kuwait International Airport suspended all commercial flight operations on Wednesday after an Iranian missile and drone attack struck the facility, causing casualties and significant damage.

According to Kuwaiti authorities, one person was killed and several others were injured in the attack, which also damaged Terminal 1 and forced emergency procedures and flight diversions.

The strike came after U.S. Central Command carried out retaliatory operations against an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

The U.S. action followed earlier Iranian missile launches directed toward Kuwait and Bahrain, further escalating tensions in the Gulf region.

Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said Terminal 1 suffered substantial material damage, prompting the suspension of airport operations while authorities assessed the situation.

The report in Reuters said Bahraini forces also intercepted missiles aimed at civilian infrastructure.

Regional leaders condemned the attack. UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash called for Gulf unity, warning that the aggression threatened regional security as a whole.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump maintained that communications with Iran remain ongoing, rejecting claims from Iranian officials that negotiations had been suspended.
