Maestro Trump Beats The Media Into A Frenzied Symphony

A few days ago, President Trump posted on his Truth Social website that former President Biden's last-minute pardons, including the pre-emptive ones, are probably invalid because Biden used an autopen.

The 'Pardons' that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen. In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them! The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime. Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level. The fact is, they were probably responsible for the Documents that were signed on their behalf without the knowledge or consent of the Worst President in the History of our Country, Crooked Joe Biden!

It was classic Trump, trolling his political opponents and the media to take the bite and keep a dead story alive. Trump did the same during the campaign when he served at a Pennsylvania McDonald's to drive home the point that he worked there at least a part of the shift, which was more than former Vice President Kamala Harris did as she claimed. The media had dropped covering the Harris McDonald's story, so Trump brought it back to life.

In his post about Biden's pardon, Trump drew the public's attention to several unethical practices of the 46th president as he left Washington. Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, before he was formally charged, convicted, or even investigated for a specific crime. The pardon included Hunter's activities dating back to January 1, 2014 -the year Hunter assumed a board position with Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company. The obvious question on the public's mind was: What were the Bidens trying to hide?

Biden also issued blanket preemptive pardons for every known Trump antagonist, including members of the J6 Committee that investigated Trump, such as Liz Cheney and Benny Thompson. Adam Schiff, now California's senator and the architect of the Ukraine phone call scandal and Trump's first impeachment, also received a pardon.

Preemptive pardons are a subset of the broad pardon powers granted to the U.S. President under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, which allows the president to "grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." Preemptive pardons are rare but not unprecedented. The Supreme Court has upheld their validity, notably in Ex parte Garland (1866), where it ruled that the pardon power extends to all offenses, even before prosecution, as long as they fall under federal jurisdiction. President Carter granted amnesty to Vietnam War draft evaders in 1977, covering uncharged crimes, as a way to heal the country. More than a hundred years before that, President Andrew Johnson pardoned Confederate soldiers after the Civil War, many before charges were filed. Again, it was a glorious act to unite the country.

However, Biden’s use of pardons was purely political. In just one four-year term, Biden granted clemency to a whopping 4,245 individuals. Comparing this number to President Obama's two terms, when he granted clemency to 1,927 individuals, shows the extraordinarily corrupt nature of Biden's pardons.

As the public's memory of Biden's pardons began to wane, Trump thought it fit to stoke the fire again brilliantly. Trump knows that talking about an old story doesn't catch. He added a new twist to the tale, suggesting that the outrageous pardons were illegal because Biden never signed them and was perhaps not aware of his actions. While the use of the Autopen is routine in regular government business, Trump pointed out that pardons—an exclusive presidential power—should have borne Biden’s physical signature. Speaking at the Department of Justice press conference, Trump said: "You don't use Autopen. Number 1, it's disrespectful to the office. Number 2, maybe it's not even valid ... He had no idea what the hell he was doing."

The Left and the media pounced back, not realizing how Trump had trapped them. The New York Times insisted that the presidential pardon was absolute whether signed by Autopen or not, and no case law proved otherwise: "Mr. Trump's assertion, which embraced a baseless right-wing conspiracy theory about former President Joseph R. Biden Jr., was a new escalation of his antidemocratic rhetoric."

No, it wasn't. It wasn't right-wing at all. What Trump was doing was drawing a contrast with the Biden administration, as most people, to this day, do not know who was in charge during his presidency. Did Biden's Chief of Staff run the pardon process? Former VP Harris? Attorney General Garland? Trump appealed to ordinary voters, even those who may not always support him. These voters find it appalling that Biden would be so corrupt and stoop to such a low level while exercising a sacred privilege granted to presidents.

Days later, the media continued to be obsessed with Trump's charge, finding legal faults with his post or questioning how often Trump uses the Autopen. However, Trump, as he always does, was playing in the court of public opinion and winning. The Left will never learn.
