The U.S.-based AI firm Anthropic is facing increased scrutiny from regulators and financial institutions over its advanced model “Mythos,” which has raised cybersecurity concerns, AFP reported. Company officials said the system can identify long-standing vulnerabilities that even expert teams have missed.

Anthropic has restricted access to Mythos, sharing it only with select firms such as Nvidia, Amazon, Apple and JPMorgan Chase to test defensive capabilities.

According to AFP, regulators in Europe and the U.K. have sought further clarity, warning that such AI tools could pose risks to financial systems and infrastructure. Anthropic said it is prioritizing transparency and safety, delaying a broader rollout.

The model’s capabilities have also intensified debate over AI governance and global readiness.

Meanwhile, Anthropic continues expanding in Europe and reporting strong revenue growth, even as it faces ongoing tensions with U.S. authorities over national security concerns.
