President Donald Trump said the United States is investigating whether Iran has stored drones in Cuba, stressing that no such presence has been confirmed.
According to the report, Trump told reporters that the administration is examining the possibility and warned that the United States would respond if evidence showed Iranian drones were being kept on the island.
The information has not been publicly confirmed by the U.S. government, and Cuban authorities have neither acknowledged nor denied the reported acquisitions, while maintaining their right to obtain equipment for national defense.
According to the report, the comments came as Washington increased pressure on Havana by imposing new sanctions on Cuba's Tourism Ministry and several other state entities.
The report also noted that Cuba continues to face a severe economic and energy crisis marked by fuel shortages and frequent power outages while pursuing reforms aimed at expanding the role of the private sector.
