The report said Trump's remarks follow an earlier media report citing unnamed intelligence sources that alleged Cuba had acquired hundreds of attack drones from Russia and Iran since 2023.

The information has not been publicly confirmed by the U.S. government, and Cuban authorities have neither acknowledged nor denied the reported acquisitions, while maintaining their right to obtain equipment for national defense.

According to the report, the comments came as Washington increased pressure on Havana by imposing new sanctions on Cuba's Tourism Ministry and several other state entities.

The report also noted that Cuba continues to face a severe economic and energy crisis marked by fuel shortages and frequent power outages while pursuing reforms aimed at expanding the role of the private sector.
