President Donald Trump will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, he announced on Truth Social.

The call follows the U.S. decision to pause certain missile and ammunition shipments to Ukraine. According to NBC News, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the hold after reviewing U.S. munitions stockpiles. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said the move was to “put America’s interests first.”

The Pentagon said it is “adapting its approach” while aligning with Trump’s “America First” priorities. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell described it as a “pragmatic step” to preserve U.S. military readiness.

The decision raised alarm among critics, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who warned on X that allowing Russia to win would be a “disaster” for U.S. security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed discussions with Washington are ongoing. Kyiv urged no delays in aid, citing intensified Russian drone and missile attacks in June.
