Iran warned it would retaliate forcefully if President Donald Trump follows through on his threat to strike key Iranian infrastructure, escalating tensions over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

In response, a spokesperson for Iran's top military command declared that any such attack would trigger strikes on infrastructure across the region and insisted that U.S. involvement in the Strait of Hormuz crossed Iran's "invincible red line."

The report said U.S. Central Command launched another round of strikes targeting Iranian command centers, missile sites, drone capabilities and coastal surveillance facilities, including locations near Bandar Abbas.

Despite the military escalation, Trump said Iranian officials had expressed interest in renewed talks. CNBC also reported that analysts expect a prolonged stalemate, while warning that continued conflict could keep geopolitical risks and energy market volatility elevated.
