Danish shipping giant Maersk said one of its vessels safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz under U.S. military protection, as tensions in the region remain high. The U.S.-flagged Alliance Fairfax, operated by Farrell Lines, completed the transit without incident on Monday, with all crew members safe, the company said.

The vessel had been stranded since the U.S.- and Israel-led war with Iran began on February 28. The crossing comes amid the U.S. Navy’s efforts under President Donald Trump’s “Project Freedom,” aimed at restoring maritime traffic through the critical oil route.
According to U.S. Central Command, two U.S.-flagged vessels have now passed through the strait. However, a fragile ceasefire appears at risk after fresh Iranian attacks in the UAE. Iran has warned against further escalation, calling the crisis political, not military.
