Ukraine's expanding drone campaign has forced Russia to suspend shipping through the Sea of Azov, disrupting a key trade corridor and raising concerns about global grain supplies, reported by CNN.

According to Ukrainian drone commander Robert Brovdi, Kyiv struck 116 Russian vessels over nine days, although CNN said it could not independently verify that claim. The attacks prompted Russia to close the Don-Azov Channel and the Kerch Strait, leaving long queues of ships waiting outside the waterway.

The report said the Sea of Azov is vital for transporting Russian oil, grain, steel and other exports. Analysts warned that prolonged disruption could cost Russia billions of dollars and push wheat prices higher, as roughly one-quarter of the country's wheat exports move through the route.

Russia accused Ukraine of terrorism, while Kyiv said it was targeting military assets and logistics supporting the war. Analysts described the campaign as a new phase in Ukraine's effort to isolate Russian-occupied Crimea and weaken Moscow's supply network.
