The statement said both sides approved a roadmap toward a comprehensive agreement and agreed to continue technical discussions throughout the week.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the talks as a major step forward and credited Pakistani and Qatari mediation efforts, AFP reported.

According to the joint statement, Washington and Tehran also agreed to establish a Lebanon "de-confliction cell" involving Lebanese authorities to help enforce the cessation of military operations in the country. Araghchi said the mechanism would serve as an early test of the broader agreement.

The talks also produced a communication channel aimed at preventing incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and supporting safe commercial shipping during the 60-day negotiation period.

Araghchi further stated that sanctions relief, resumed oil exports, access to some frozen assets and reconstruction initiatives for Iran were discussed, although details were not fully outlined in the mediators’ statement.
