Thousands of protesters marched in Tirana for a third consecutive day against a proposed $1.6 billion luxury resort backed by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump, according to UPI.
Demonstrators voiced concerns over construction activity on Sazan Island, located within the protected Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park along Albania’s Adriatic coast.
Some protesters carried inflatable flamingos to draw attention to the area's fragile ecosystem. Clashes broke out during the demonstrations, with police reportedly using water cannons to disperse crowds.

Environmental groups argued that the project has moved forward without adequate transparency or public consultation. Aleksandr Trajce of the Protection and Preservation of the Natural Environment in Albania called for construction to stop and habitats to be restored before any discussions continue.
According to environmental advocates, the region supports endangered wildlife, including Mediterranean monk seals, Dalmatian pelicans and hundreds of bird species.
Project developers, working alongside Kushner’s investment firm Affinity Partners, said they remain committed to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, job creation and long-term benefits for local communities.
