Amazon CEO Andy Jassy raised concerns with senior Trump administration officials about potential security risks linked to Anthropic’s most advanced artificial intelligence models, according to an exclusive report by The Information.

🤖
The report said those discussions contributed to the administration’s decision to impose export restrictions on Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models.

The measures suspend access to the systems for foreign nationals on national security grounds. Anthropic responded by disabling access to the affected models for all users to comply with the order.

According to the report, the administration’s concerns centered on the models’ growing ability to identify software vulnerabilities and the possibility of bypassing built-in safety protections.

Anthropic argued that the vulnerabilities cited were relatively basic and could also be discovered by other publicly available AI systems.

The restrictions mark the latest escalation in tensions between Anthropic and the Trump administration. The report also noted that the White House is not currently expected to extend similar export controls to other AI companies.
