James Murdoch’s media and technology investment firm, Lupa Systems, has agreed to acquire most of Vox Media, including New York magazine, Vox.com and the company’s podcast network, according to CNN.
The report said the deal was announced shortly after New York magazine won a National Magazine Award for general excellence. Financial details were not officially disclosed, though previous reports suggested the assets could be valued at more than $300 million.

Several Vox-owned brands, including The Verge, Eater, Popsugar, SB Nation and The Dodo, were excluded from the agreement, raising questions about possible future buyers.
Vox Media CEO Jim Bankoff will join Lupa Systems and continue overseeing the acquired properties. Bankoff told The New York Times that he viewed Murdoch as a long-term steward for the brands.
James Murdoch, who previously distanced himself from the conservative media empire led by his father Rupert Murdoch, said the acquisition reflects his interest in ambitious journalism and culture-focused reporting.
