A new artificial intelligence startup founded by former Google DeepMind researcher David Silver has raised a record $1.1 billion in seed funding, according to company statements.

The London-based firm, Ineffable Intelligence, was launched in late 2025 and is focused on developing “superintelligence” using reinforcement learning. The report said the funding values the company at $5.1 billion, marking one of the largest early-stage investments in Europe.

The round was co-led by major investors including Sequoia and Lightspeed, with participation from Nvidia and others. Silver said the company aims to build systems that learn independently from experience rather than relying on human-generated data.

According to industry reports, the move reflects a broader trend of top AI talent leaving major tech firms to launch new ventures, as investors pour billions into next-generation AI development.
