The military stated that the helicopter crashed while operating in regional waters and that an investigation is underway to determine the cause. A U.S. Navy surface drone reportedly located the crew and assisted in the rescue effort.

President Donald Trump confirmed that both pilots were safe and that no injuries had been reported. The incident marks the first reported loss of an Apache helicopter since the conflict involving Iran intensified earlier this year.
