The United States launched a third consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran as President Donald Trump announced plans to reimpose a blockade on Iranian ports and introduce a 20% cargo fee for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, reported by AFP.
According to the report, the U.S. military said its latest five-hour operation targeted sites in Bushehr and Bandar Abbas to weaken Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping.
Trump said further military action was planned but insisted a negotiated settlement with Tehran remained possible. He also threatened action against Iran's underground Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site.
Iran described the June memorandum of understanding as "in crisis" but said it remained engaged in indirect talks through mediators from Qatar, Pakistan and Oman. Oil prices climbed sharply amid renewed fears of wider regional conflict.
