What Is Behind The Ukraine-Norway Drone Deal

Ukraine and Norway will jointly produce Ukrainian-designed mid-strike drones for Ukraine’s armed forces, according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry. The project follows a defense agreement signed in Oslo by President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The partnership aims to deepen military cooperation and boost battlefield capabilities.

Ukrainian officials said the drones have been tested in combat and will help regain operational momentum. Norway will fund the project using additional military aid beyond its planned $7 billion support for 2026. Production will take place in Norway, with thousands of units expected.

The first deliveries are scheduled for summer 2026. Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik said the initiative strengthens both nations’ security and industrial capacity.

According to officials, the deal also expands research and development cooperation between the two countries.
