Ukrainian authorities have launched a terrorism investigation after a gunman killed seven people and injured more than a dozen in Kyiv, according to CNN. Officials said the attacker opened fire on a street before taking hostages inside a supermarket.
Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko said the suspect, a 58-year-old man born in Moscow, was killed by police during the operation. The report said the attacker used a registered automatic weapon and acted without making demands.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, several victims remain hospitalized, including a child in critical condition. Authorities said two victims later died from injuries.
The report said special forces stormed the supermarket after failed negotiations and rescued hostages. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed four hostages were freed.
Officials are investigating the motive and the attacker’s background. Police conduct is also under review after video showed officers retreating. A senior police official has resigned.
