Russia launched its largest prolonged drone assault on Ukraine since the war began, with heavy overnight strikes hitting Kyiv and several other regions, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired more than 1,560 drones since Wednesday, along with 56 missiles overnight. The report said at least seven people were killed and 44 injured in Kyiv alone.

Emergency officials said a nine-story residential building in the capital partially collapsed after the strikes. Among the dead was a 12-year-old girl. Authorities warned more residents could still be trapped beneath the rubble.
According to CNN’s team on the ground, air raid sirens sounded for nearly 11 hours across Kyiv. Attacks also struck Kharkiv, Odesa, Poltava and Zaporizhzhia, damaging railway and energy infrastructure.
Ukraine’s energy company DTEK reported damage to power facilities, while Ukrainian rail authorities said a train locomotive was hit during the assault.
